I was working with the Niall Melon Housing Initiative in the townships around Cape Town and was fortunate enough to walk around the streets accompanied by a personal bodyguard. One late afternoon I came across these three young men. It was one of those moments that my eyes would’ve imprinted in my memory and I was thankful to have my camera ready and the men very welcoming to my presence. I loved the relaxed way they were sitting on the sidewalk and the colors of the shack and clouds behind them. What is extra special about them is the way they are dressed, in their slightly formal clothing, which is customary for young men to wear after they have gone through the initiation process from boys to men.
